Keeping You Safe at The Community Cup

Participant safety is our top priority at this year’s event. For the past two years, we’ve seen the Community Cup be a place for Columbus organizations to promote team buildingwellness and camaraderie. During this time when we’re all more eager than ever for those tenets of teamwork, we knew it was important to hold this event, adjusting as necessary to keep the community safe. For that reason, we’re amplifying our public health precautions to safely hold both in-person and virtual events.

Our robust health and safety plan, approved by the Franklin County Department of Health and following CDC guidelines, includes the following measures:

  • Going virtual for the one-mile walk and 5K race
  • Allowing teams to sign up for individual time slots for in-person events, during which social distancing among teammates will be required
  • Utilizing OhioHealth for participant temperature checks upon arrival at Fortress Obetz
  • Requiring masks or face coverings for all participants at in-person events
  • Sanitizing all event equipment between uses

Spirit of Sports

Teams are encouraged to show company pride by posting a team photo, team poster or encouraging message to social media (Facebook, Twitter or Instagram) during the drop-in event window from Aug. 1-5. Tag @columbus_sports (Twitter or Instagram) or Greater Columbus Sports Commission (Facebook) and your company and use hashtag #CbusCommunityCup in any posts to earn the full 10 points. If your social media accounts are private, please send your photos/videos to your team captain to make sure your points are recorded.

Practice Points

Team members can earn points from July 1-31 by showing how they are practicing any Community Cup events from home. Simply post photo or video of your practice session on social media (Facebook, Twitter or Instagram) with the hashtag #CbusCommunityCup and tag @columbus_sports (Twitter or Instagram) or Greater Columbus Sports Commission (Facebook) and your company. If your social media accounts are private, please send your practice photos/videos to your team captain to make sure your points are recorded. Each participant earns one point for submitting their at-home practice, and teams can earn up to 50 points total.
